Hello! My name is Shylee and I am an Escalante Utah based photographer. I am very passionate about capturing your adventures on the Grand Staircase National Monument - while also respecting this area and its history.
I live in Escalante with my family and I am an experienced hiker in this area.
Familiar with the land, roads, weather, and town, I would be the perfect person to photograph your special moments here.

It Started on the Desert.
I am a self-taught photographer and artist. I began photography with my trusty Nikon in 2017 as a hobby and past-time passion. When my son was very small - we would go on little adventures on the desert to escape the world for a little while. Exploring the monument, looking at rocks and unique plants, running down hills and chasing birds. It healed our minds and soothed our hearts. Taking photos of him as a toddler surrounded by breathtaking scenery quickly turned into something I became very fond of doing - and very good at.
My editing style is warm, inviting, soft and saturated. I want to envoke the glowing, grand, dramatic feeling of a sunset on the desert in most of my editing.

Before We Begin, An Important Reminder...
I like to preface all of my photography sessions by elucidating an important element to my photography, and that is the "Leave No Trace" principles.
The Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument is a sacred, protected area, abundant in geolocial wonders, unique plants and rock formations, Native American history and breathtaking landscapes.
There are seven principles to "Leave No Trace" that I abide by on every photography session, and on every hike in this area:
* Plan ahead and prepare.
* Travel and camp on durable surfaces.
* Dispose of waste properly.
* Leave what you find.
* Minimize campfire Impacts.
* Respect wildlife.
* Be considerate of other visitors.
